Missionettes Magnified Leadership Weekend 2005
|
|
Your church’s Missionettes Coordinator has been mailed all the promotional material needed to promote this year’s leadership training in Carlisle, PA, on April 15-17. Although I did send the package rather late, there is still plenty of time to sign up to attend this valuable annual training. Our keynote speaker is the National Missionettes Coordinator, Debby Seler. She will speak to us four times in three days, and I’m sure she will bring encouraging words and important Missionettes details for all. Deadline for registering without a late fee is April 8th. Call me if there is anything specific that you need beyond what was provided via the post office with the newsletter.

This new training which is currently available in English, and which will be taught next month in Carlisle, will soon be available in Spanish. It will cover segments on Special Needs or Disabilities, Dynamics of Biblical Mentoring, and understanding Learning Styles. All of these units, I’m sure you’ll agree, are valuable for all levels of Missionettes.

Saturday, March 19th was the day of the annual Kite Flying and Hiking event at Parkview Assembly. They graciously opened their doors to all churches in the Section and have already extended an invitation to us for next year. The day was bright and fairly warm, with just enough wind to keep those kites afloat. Stay posted for an exact date for next year, but it will probably be March 18th. Many thanks to Missionettes Coordinator Kim Flanagan and her team and Royal Ranger Senior Commander Mark Krause and his crew for all the planning and overseeing of this fun event.

Sponsors wishing to nominate a Missionette for courage or fortitude shown in a time of crisis or catastrophe should contact our District Coordinator, Susan Lanza. Susan will send you the form to complete with specific details about the heroic act. You should complete and return the form to Susan within 3 months of the outstanding act. The information will be forwarded to the National Missionettes office for processing and for action. If selected for an award, the recipient will receive an engraved trophy plaque. Missionettes Local Quarterly Report

I know that your least favorite job in all the world is to complete the financial reports for your clubs. I also have to complete all those forms at the local level in addition to the ones I must complete for our District Coordinator at the Sectional level. So I understand your hesitation in completing these. However, I must again emphasize the importance of each church completing the blue “Missionettes Local Quarterly Report” form that you received in your package. Please send to me as I will use the data on page 2 to complete my sectional report, due the end of March 2005.
You also received a blue “2005 Missionettes Quarterly Remittance Form.” That should be sent with your quarterly tithes check to the Penn-Del Women’s Ministries District Office as soon as possible. Do not send this form or check to me.
I want to remind you that I am willing to set up a special one-on-one meeting with each Coordinator to go over specific financial reporting requirements. A special session will also be provided at the Missionettes Leadership weekend next month. Also, check out page 51 of your Coordinator’s Guide for more help.
Please mark your calendarswith the following important dates
June 10-12 : Friends and Girls Only Retreat for girls in grades 6-12
June 16-18: Stars Powette for girls in grades 3-5
Specific info will be in Spring newsletter.

In the coming months, you will be hearing more details about how we plan to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our Club. Missionettes was approved and began in 1955, but was officially chartered in 2006. I’m looking forward to sharing our exciting plans soon!

Sectional Pinewood Derby: March 12, 2005

Thanks so much to Sectional Royal Ranger Commander Danny Botts for inviting all our Section’s Missionettes to participate in the fun and excitement of the Annual Pinewood Derby. It was my first time to make a car out of a piece of wood and I can tell you that I loved the “process” much more than the actual race. I’m already thinking of ideas for next year’s race. In fact, I learned that you really do have to “graphite” the wheels before the race, to make the car go faster!!! My motto the whole night was: it’s okay if I come in last because the Word says “the last shall be first.” I hope to see many more girls and leaders out next year, and hope to have a “Stanley Cup” of our own to pass from church to church.
