zollieMarch 1 – Reaching America – Zollie Smith, Executive Director, AG US Missions, guest speaker

Our next meeting will be hosted at Parkview Assembly of God, 235 Polly Drummond Hill Road, Newark, Delaware 19711. We will gather together at 10:00 am, and enjoy lunch together at noon.

Our special guest, Zollie L. Smith Jr., was elected executive director of Assemblies of God U.S. Missions at the 52nd General Council in August 2007. He is a member of the Executive Leadership Team and Executive Presbytery. Smith coordinates the ministries of six departments: Church Planting; Chaplaincy Ministries; Teen Challenge International, USA; Chi Alpha Campus Ministries; Intercultural Ministries; and U.S. Mission America Placement Service (MAPS). Currently, there are more than 1,000 missionaries and more than 400 chaplains under AGUSM, with 5,000 other related field personnel.

Prior to U.S. missions, Smith served as the Executive Presbyter representing the Ethnic Fellowships and as president of the National Black Fellowship. He served the New Jersey District of the Assemblies of God as assistant superintendent (1998-2005) and as executive secretary (2005-07).

Smith served as pastor of Eternal Life Christian Center (ELCC) of the Assemblies of God, Somerset, New Jersey for 15 years. During his pastorate, the church grew to over 300 members and completed a $2.7 million educational enrichment center. Prior to ELCC, Smith pioneered a church that later became Plainfield Assembly of God, a New Jersey district affiliate.

Smith holds a masters degree in business management with emphasis on non-profit organizations from Regent University; a bachelors degree in criminology and criminal justice from Florida State University; and a diploma in ministerial studies from Berean Bible College. Smith has spent his life in service as a former police officer/detective; U.S. Postal Inspector; and Airborne Infantryman in the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Smith and his wife, Phyllis, have six daughters.

April 12 – Dealing with False Religions – Bob Anderson, Watchman Fellowship, guest speaker

Our April meeting will be hosted by Calvary Assembly of God, 2600 Shipley Road, Wilmington, DE 19810. We will meet at 10:00 am, and enjoy lunch together at noon.

andersonOur guest, Bob Anderson, was born in Youngstown, Ohio. He attended Ohio University for two years before entering the U.S. Army. While in the service, Bob was married. However, just two months later, he received orders for Vietnam which would change his life forever. To help pass the time on the long journey by ship, he joined a Chaplain’s Bible study where he received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. In Vietnam, he served his remaining time as a Chaplain’s assistant ministering to men in the field. Upon honorable discharge from the Army, he returned to college at Youngstown State University where he graduated in 1974. Bob spent nine years as the Sports Director at the ABC affiliate in Youngstown. During this time he became excited about a television minister who turned out to be a cultist! The shock that he could be so easily deceived sent Bob on a quest to keep others from the same fate.

In 1978, Bob was offered a sports anchor position at a large station in Texas. However, at the same time, he had the opportunity to join a major Christian television ministry. With a passion for serving God above all else, he turned down the offer in Texas and embarked on a career that would span various aspects of Christian broadcasting ranging from on-air work to production to management. During this time, God was preparing him for a full-time ministry in Christian apologetics through a rigorous and exhaustive study of the Word.

In 1984, Bob left Christian broadcasting and founded Take Heed Ministries, a Christian apologetics and discernment ministry. God greatly prospered that outreach. Bob’s sensitive and scripturally sound presentations have been well received by church leaders and laypersons alike. Bob has taught in hundreds of churches, pastors‘ seminars, and Bible schools in the United States. He has been invited to minister in England and Canada. In 1991 and 1992, he ministered on the streets and in churches throughout Kiev, Ukraine as part of the John Guest Evangelistic Team, where he personally led over 2,000 people to Christ. Again in 1997, Bob traveled to Ternopil, Ukraine to train churches as a representative of the K.U.R.E. Foundation. In 1999, he taught in churches and Bible colleges throughout the greater Cebu City area of the Philippines under the auspices of The David Livingstone Missionary Foundation.

Bob hosted a television program, Exposing the Lie, which was seen via satellite for many years and has been a guest on numerous television and radio programs, including The 700 Club and D. James Kennedy’s Truths that Transform. Bob was also a contributing author to two books: Earth’s Final Days, Essay in Apocalypse III by New Leaf Press, and Foreshocks of Antichrist, published by Harvest House.

In January of 1998, Take Heed Ministries merged with Watchman Fellowship. His constant goal is to minister to those bound by the false teachings of cults, to assist the many people who have loved ones in cults, and to inspire and train Christians to “earnestly contend for the faith.” Bob realizes he can reach only a limited number of people, but by training and equipping saints, a mighty army can be raised up against the flood of deception in today’s world.

May 4-5 – PennDel MinistrieSummit – Camp Hill, PA

summittourville

This is the annual District Council gathering of our fellowship, the PennDel Ministry Network. This year, MinistrieSummit will be hosted at Christian Life Assembly of God in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. Great ministry, great worship, and great fellowship all combine to make this annual event one you never want to miss.

shuttlesworthMay 24 – Pentecost in the 21st Century – Tiff Shuttlesworth, evangelist, guest speaker

Tiff Shuttlesworth was the third of four sons born to Reverend and Mrs. A. E. Shuttlesworth on October 25, 1958. His parents have served the Lord in ministry for more than forty years. All three of his brothers are involved in full time ministry as well.

Tiff gave his heart to the Lord Jesus Christ and received the baptism of the Holy Spirit at the tender age of six. It was during his early youth that he began to feel the call of God upon his life, preaching his first sermon at the age of sixteen. After graduating from High School, he then attended Zion Bible Institute in Barrington, Rhode Island. He graduated in the spring of 1979 after completing his courses as a ministerial major. He now serves on the Executive Board of Directors of Zion Bible Institute.

Tiff is a credentialed minister with the Assemblies of God and serves on the National Evangelists Committee. He has been involved in full time evangelism for nearly two decades. In 1994 he was added to Billy Graham’s Notable Names in Evangelism. As President and Founder of “Lost Lamb Evangelistic Association” his focus has been directed at reaching the unsaved both in North America and around the world.

Through “Lost Lamb Evangelistic Association” Thanksgiving outreaches have provided several tons of food for single mothers and children. Hundreds of brand new toys have been distributed to needy children at Christmas along with a gospel witness.

Tiff met his wife Judy while in Bible College. They were married in June of 1979. On September 28, 1980, their son Jonathan David was born. Three years later on October 20, 1983, their daughter Jessica Dawn was added. He and his family presently reside in scenic Bangor, Maine.

finalFinal Thoughts...

I know that we all have such busy schedules, that many times we ask ourselves if there is any value for us in attending the Sectional Minister’s meetings. By the time we drive to and from the meeting, its nearly an entire day for each of us. Please allow me to share two thoughts in response to this question.

First, no matter what the “value” may be for you personally, I believe that greatest value is in what you may be able to offer to others! Don’t ever under-estimate how valuable you are to the others in the section! God wants to use each of us to minister to the others in our section. That may be in a word of encouragement, a prayer, a listening ear, or just a smile! We all need to know in a tangible way that we are not alone, that we are laborers together for the cause of Christ!

Secondly, please consider if this same question was asked by the people who attend your church. Many of them may question what’s the reason for them to come to church on Sunday. There are, of course, many reasons – but one reason that people rarely think of is the encouragement they are to the other worshipers around them – including you as their pastor! If many in your congregation simply didn’t show up on Sunday, wouldn’t it affect you? And, don’t you think it would have an effect on the others who were there? In much the same way, if we choose not to attend our Sectional Minister’s meetings, simply because we don’t know what we would “get out of it,” we are really only thinking from a selfish perspective.

I choose to attend our Sectional Minister’s Meetings because I want to be a blessing to others. If God blesses me in the process, then that is an added benefit!

As always, I am here to serve you. Please feel free to call on me at anytime. You can phone or text me at (302) 545-4370, or drop me an email at TSatryan@wfa.org.

Hope to see you at our next Delmarva Minister’s Meeting!

Yours for HIM,
Timothy G. Satryan,
